Movistar grows in FTTH and IPTV during the first three months of 2021 in Colombia

As part of its Q1 2021 financial results report presentation, Movistar Colombia (Telefonica) reported a year-on-year growth of 51.6% on its FTTH customer base, which already features more than 366 thousand subscribers. Movistar also reported that its FTTH offering is already available in 43 Colombian cities.

‘This increase in the number of FTTH accesses shows the good reception that the commercial offer of this service has had in the 43 cities where it already operates, but, even more, the browsing speed that customers enjoy. Precisely, Movistar is the leading operator -by average download and upload speed- in most of the locations where it offers fiber’, they reported from Movistar, quoting information from the MinTIC.

The total number of clients which with the company ended the first three months of the year was 19.9 million. Regarding the pay TV customer base, Movistar Colombia reported that the deployment of FTTH has allowed its IPTV base to report a year-on-year growth of 96.6%, and reach 217 thousand accesses as of March 31st, 2021. In the mobile business, Movistar reported 16.7 million customers in March (a 5% year-on-year increase). In the postpaid sector, growth was 9.2%, while in the prepaid one, the year-on-year increase was 3.5%.
