US telecommunications company Liberty Global announced through an official statement that, after the acquisition, it renamed the IPTV services offered by British telco Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) as Horizon from Flow.
Flow is the brand of digital TV, broadband and telephony inherited by CWC after the purchase of Caribbean operator Columbus in 2014. Horizon TV is the name of the integrated video platform marketed by Liberty since 2012. Liberty completed the purchase of CWC in May for USD 5 billion.
The Horizon TV system includes a new generation set-top box (STB) which allows access to Pay-TV programming for all connected devices in the home besides recommending content and functioning simultaneously as internet modem and TV decoder. It also includes TV Everywhere service Horizon Go. The deployment has already started in Jamaica and will spread in the rest of the Caribbean countries where Flow is marketed.
“At Flow we understand that our customers demand a convenient, personalized TV experience that fits their lifestyle. Now that we are a part of the Liberty Global family, we have an opportunity to bring even more benefits and enhancements to our product and services. We are aligning ourselves with a leader of innovative video entertainment”, said CWC CCO, Niall Merry.
