HBO Max to be available on PS4 and PS5 consoles and puts off its availability on Amazon Fire TV in Latin America

HBO Max, WarnerMedia (AT&T)’s SVOD OTT, launched days ago in Latin America, has confirmed that it will soon be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. In addition, and due to problems in the negotiations, the platform will not be launched on Amazon Fire TV’s devices in the region yet. The information was reported by Luis Duran, General Manager at HBO Max in Latin America, through the official social networks of the OTT.

The executive informed that WarnerMedia has already ran an agreement with Sony and, in about one month, the HBO Max application will already be available on PS4 and PS5 consoles through the PlayStation Store.

Regarding the availability of the SVOD OTT on Fire TV, Duran reported that WarnerMedia was unable to finalize negotiations with Amazon to make the platform available in Latin America. ‘We did everything possible, but we could not. We will continue working to be available on all platforms, but there are two parties on this type of agreements’ he said in this regard. In the US, where HBO Max was launched on May 29th, 2020, the platform is available on the Amazon device.

As a special offer for its launch in Latin America, those who subscribe to HBO Max between June 29th and July 31st in the region through the platform’s official web version, will be able to access a 50% discount on the monthly subscription, as long as customers keep their plan in force.
