HBO Latin America has announced this last Tuesday, February 2nd, the launch of a new content segment, which it called ‘HBO Latin America Movies’, which will feature original films that will be available throughout Latin America through HBO and HBO GO. HBO Latin America Movies films will be produced by Particular Crowd, WarnerMedia Latin America’s film brand, launched in early 2020.
HBO Latin America Movie’s first feature film, which will be released throughout the region during the first half of 2021, will be ‘Twist’, a modern version of the ‘Oliver Twist’ novel, (Charles Dickens, 1838), described by HBO Latin America as ‘a British thefts movie with high doses of adrenaline’, starred by British actors Michael Caine, Lena Headey and Raff Law.
As officially reported by HBO Latin America, Particular Crowd offers both movies in English, as well as local original films in Spanish and Portuguese of various genres, including comedy, romantic comedy, horror, suspense, and teen and family movies. Based in Los Angeles, Particular Crowd has run development, co-financing and production agreements with major companies, and aims to find new talent to provide access and opportunities to the next filmmakers generation.
Days ago, WarnerMedia announced the team of executives that will be in charge of the launch of HBO Max in Latin America, the company’s new SVOD OTT originally launched in the US at the end of May 2020, which is about to start its expansion throughout Latin America and Europe.
