Brazilian Grupo Globo has officially announced this last Friday, April 30th it has run a new strategic partnership with Apple, through which it will offer selected Globoplay subscribers access to the Apple TV+ catalog, the company’s new SVOD OTT, originally launched in November 2019.
According to the terms of the agreement, Globoplay’s annual plan and Globoplay + canais ao vivo subscribers will receive a three-month Apple TV+ free trial. After that period, Globoplay subscribers must pay a R$9.90 (USD 2) monthly subscription. Globo has also reported that the offer is available to new Globoplay subscribers, as well as existing annual plan subscribers and those who upgrade.
‘Globoplay guarantees exclusive benefits to subscribers with annual plans, and this initiative reinforces Globoplay’s strategy as a marketplace for digital content with a curated offering of services for different-sized pockets and tastes’, they reported from Globo. With this Apple TV+ offer, Globoplay’s subscribers can enjoy Apple Originals, including titles like ‘The Morning Show’; ‘Ted Lasso’; ‘For All Mankind’; ‘Greyhound’; ‘Palmer’ and ‘Wolfalkers’.
Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, selected Samsung, LG, Sony, and VIZIO smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and at tv.apple.com/br (to access from Brazil).
The initiative announced by Globo for Globoplay joins the announcement made days ago by Erick Bretas, Director of Digital Products at Grupo Globo, who confirmed that the company is now developing and producing 102 projects to premiere on Globoplay, of which 75 will make their debut on the platform between 2021 and 2022. Apart from that, the platform has started its international expansion plans last year, when it was officially launched in the US, and confirmed this year that it will also be available in Europe.
