Globo takes Palmeiras Brazil’s Cup matches to PPV

Through an official statement, the Brazilian FTA channel Globo confirmed that the Round of 16 matches of the Brazil’s Cup will only be available for Premiere subscribers. While Globo is still negotiating with Palmeiras to broadcast the team’s matches in the Brasileirao tournament, the two Brazilian football team matches in the Brazil Cup will only be watched through the PPV system.

Up to now, Globo continues to negotiate with Palmeiras to take its Brasileirao’s matches to the FTA channel. The company’s measure is focused on taking Palmeiras fans to Globo again, while negotiations are still in course.

During these past week, Premiere broadcasted some Brazil’s Cup matches such as Atletico Mineiro against Santos, exclusively on PPV for the Minas Gerais state. Corinthians match facing Flamengo was broadcast together with Globo, while Fortaleza against Atletico Paranaense’s match was also an exclusive PPV broadcast on Premiere for the Ceara state. Palmeiras will play against Sampaio Correa for the Brazil Cup on May 22nd and 30th. Both matches will be broadcast under the PPV modality.
