Globo launches new eSports competition with Brazilian clubs football players

After the Brazilian Football Professional League (Brasileirão) was cancelled due to the advance of the Coronavirus pandemic, Globo announced that, starting this Thursday, May 14th, it will launch ‘FC: Futebol de casa’, a new esports competition that will be played through the e-Football PES video game and will be available on,  as well as the pay TV channel SporTV.

Some of the Brazilian club football players who have confirmed that will be part of the competition are Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa (Flamengo); Yeferson Soteldo (Santos); Bruno Fuchs (Internacional); Talles Magno (Vasco da Gama); Guga (Atletico Mineiro) and Antony Mateus dos Santos (São Paulo), who will compete in two groups, to win the so-called ‘Gold Control’.

The full competition will be held remotely, in 15 minutes matches to be played a on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The participating footballers will be divided into two groups: group A will be made up of Barbosa, Fuchs and dos Santos, and group B will be integrated by Talles Magno, Soteldo and Guga. Divided into groups, the footballers will face each other, and the best two from each group will advance to the semifinals, which will lead to the final.

The winner of the Final will continue to be the holder of the ‘Gold Control’ and will be challenged by the winner of the following week. Every week, a new player will replace the winner of the ‘Gold Control’ in the contest. The champion of the entire competition will be the player who wins the ‘Gold Control’ challenge at the end of the third week.
