The Fox Sports channel would be replaced by ESPN 4, a new Disney brand signal, as of December 1st, 2021 in Latin America, according to unofficial information provided by the Tribuna Deportivanews portal. In addition, the source stated that pay TV operators had already been notified of the change.
Since The Walt Disney Company acquired the properties of 21st Century Fox at the beginning of last year and decided to merge the two sports channels in Latin America, the signal that is now saying goodbye to the grid has begun to transfer a large part of its figures and their broadcasts to ESPN. Now, after these latest changes, the brand’s content offering in STAR +, Disney’s OTT that stands out for its sports catalogue, is expected to grow even more.
Although according to the information given, the new channel would debut in the entire region from the beginning of next month, in the case of Argentina there’s still no certainty in this happening since the merger between Disney and Fox has not yet been approved by the country’s regulatory institutions.
