FOX Sports to offer mix of premium and basic channels for Argentine soccer

Hernán Donnari, SVP & COO of FOX Sports Latin America, offered some details on how the company will broadcast the Argentine soccer league. According to the executive, FOX Sports will combine different platforms: the new channel FOX Sports Premium, which will be launched with the start of the next tournament in August, will air the most important matches. In addition, some of the games will be available in basic channels.

“What we have learned over the years is that we have to combine different marketing mechanisms of the distribution rights,” Donnari said in Fox Sports. “In this combination (between Premium and Basic) we believe is the solution and the value that the FOX Sports package will add to the audience”.

The executive said that the Argentine league is “very competitive, but still has much to offer”, and he added: “We want to help internationalize Argentine soccer”.

In early April, FOX Networks Group (FNG) Latin America officially announced the acquisition of TV rights for Argentine soccer and the launch of FOX Sports Premium, starting in August. According to FNG, the new channel “will be a high quality experience with 24 hours of programming dedicated exclusively to soccer, with new original productions of debate, analysis and news, and the most recognized local talents and specialists in the country”.
