Broadcasting of the football match that faced Brazilian football clubs Flamengo and Nova Iguaçu, which took place this last Tuesday, March 2nd due to the first fixture date of the Campeonato Carioca, aired on Flamengo’s OTT FlaTV+, created complaints from the club’s fans on social networks. As officially reported by Flamengo, the broadcast of the match was affected by hacker attacks on the platform’s servers.
Some of the most relevant complaints made by Flamengo’s fans were focused on problems when accessing the event, as well as slowness and instability on the broadcast.
As reported by Flamengo, the attack on the OTT FlaTV+ servers ‘was created from various regions of Brazil, and began minutes before the beginning of the match, after two hours of broadcasting its previous moments, without any problem’. In addition, the club reported that ‘during one hour, around 900 attacks were blocked out of a total of almost 9 thousand that took place’.
In July 2020, Flamengo also reported failures when broadcasting the match that it played against the Volta Redonda team, in which both teams played the Semifinals of the Campeonato Carioca. That time, Flamengo charged a subscription to access the broadcast of the match for those who are not members of the club. But, due to the high demand and the complaints of those who accessed the MyCujoo platform, in charge of broadcasting and charging for the event, Flamengo decided to broadcast the match for free through its official YouTube channel.
