Five sports websites in Ecuador are blocked because of illegal streaming content

The Ecuadorian National Intellectual Rights Services (Senadi) ordered to block five websites belonging to RojaDirecta, a platform focused on broadcasting sporting events, according to what the entity informed in an official statement, where it stated to have found ‘several elements to determine an alleged violation of intellectual property rights, through networks re-broadcastings without the owner’s authorization’.

Some of the sporting events that were being broadcast  in an illegal way were matches from the Libertadores Cup, the South American Cup, the Superliga (professional football tournament in Argentina), the Formula 1, the Mexican League and the Spanish league LaLiga, and others.

The website’s  rojadiretahd.online, rojadirectatv.football, rojadirectatv.tv, rojadirecta.online and rojadirecta-tv.me became effective last June 6th, after Fox Latin American Channel LLC and the Ecuadorian National League of Professional Football, who filed administrative legal actions against Roja Directa. According to the entity, the purpose of having blocked the websites is focused on ‘preventing the violation of intellectual property rights, promoting respect for them in Ecuadorian territory, and that no more  rights holders become victims of this type of violation’.
