Chilean telecommunications company Entel announced on Monday the launch of Entel TV, its new OTT, which, according to what it officially reported, can be accessed from smart TVs, tablets and smartphones. The platform joins 41 available TV channels, including Chilean channels; from Disney; Turner and international ones.
In addition, Entel TV offers the possibility of hiring premium channels, such as CDF HD and HBO Max, in addition to allowing Netflix payment on the same fee. As reported by the telecommunications company, all those who subscribe to the OTT will be able to access its catalog on two screens at the same time, and can cancel the subscription at any time they want to. In addition, Entel TV allows those who enter to restart programs and pause content. Access to the platform is possible for both customers and non-customers of Entel.
‘Chileans are consuming less linear TV, and are replacing it with on demand content. But, when watching TV, the most watched channels are national and sports ones. This way, Entel TV answers these new consumption patterns, and will offer a grid that gives customers what they really want to watch, when and where they want to access it, and at an affordable price’, said Daniel Ríos, Entel’s Home Market Manager.
In addition, Entel Chile announced the launch of its new Android TV STB, of which trial versions had already been launched. The STB, with Chromecast integrated, is self-installing and compatible with all TVs, whether they are smart TVs or not. In addition, the device offers direct access to Entel TV, Netflix, YouTube, Fox, HBO GO and all the apps available on the Google Play Store. The STB will offer content available in 4K and will have integrated Google voice control, which will allow people to make voice commands and searches, open applications and interact with Google’s artificial intelligence.
‘Among the main features that we highlight of the Entel STB is that it allows to democratize access to quality content, since it is not necessary to have a Smart TV to enjoy the main streaming or entertainment applications, since the device, when connecting it to the internet, allows access to the different applications on any TV. It is ideal for people who enjoy content from Netflix, YouTube or other platforms, but also want to watch news, live sports or a TV program. It combines all the alternatives’, added the executive.
The STB was developed by the French hardware company Sagemcom, and has a custom Android TV interface, developed for Entel by the 24iMedia company.
