Entel Chile issued its first sustainable bond in the international market, for a total amount of USD 800 million. The transaction was carried out through a road show with potential investors and had a demand that exceeded USD 2,640 million.
According to the company, the funds raised will be used mainly to finance or refinance projects to access basic telecommunications infrastructure, services related to digital inclusion, and renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.
“More than a decade ago, Entel set itself the challenge of making sustainability one of the pillars of its business, a decision that at the end of 2018 translated into a new purpose that made our role visible: to bring technology closer and facilitate its use, generating opportunities for people, companies and society as a whole”, Jimena Del Valle, Entel’s Director of Sustainability, explained. “And the projects associated with this bond issue represent that we take that commitment very seriously”, she said.
“We are very satisfied with the success of our third international bond placement and first sustainable debt issuance. This shows the confidence that investors have in our company, based on a clear purpose, a consistent business strategy and a solid financial position”, Felipe Ureta, manager of Finance and Management Control of the company, explained.
