The operator Entel from Chile announced that from the third quarter of 2021, it stopped marketing its DTH service to new customers, while it will continue to be available to those who already had it.
According to the company, the cancellation of its satellite TV offer is due to the fact that they seek to focus entirely on the development and sale of their IPTV service, in addition to boosting the reach of Entel TV; its streaming pay TV platform that was launched in 2020 and is available throughout the country from the internet connection of any operator.
The decision to eliminate the DTH offer for new subscribers was also taken by Telefónica, which recently unified its pay TV offering with streaming in South America and changed its name to Movistar TV. Until a few months ago, the operator only offered satellite TV and IPTV to its clients in Chile. But recently, he decided to focus on its Internet TV platform and leave DTH only for those who already had it.
