Disney withdraws its channels from the Venezuelan operator Cantv

Disney has withdrawn the sports channels ESPN and ESPN2, as well as the channel for kids Disney Channel, from the line-up of the DTH state-owned operator Cantv, as explained by the Venezuelan company in a press release. Disney didn’t have any channel in the line-up of IPTV.

“Cantv apologizes with the users of the DTH service for the withdrawal of three international channels (Disney, ESPN and ESPN 2) motivated by the unilateral decision of the North American provider by their requirement of payment in foreign currency,” said the operator in its release.

The state-owned company explained that it is looking to add new channels to compensate for the withdrawal of these three Disney channels. It also emphasized that the contract must be in local currency.
