Disney strengthens its Brazilian original productions strategy and announces new premiere for 2022

Disney+, Disney’s new SVOD OTT launched in Latin America last November, has announced this last Wednesday, June 2nd, that it is working on the production of ‘Disney Todo Igual, o No’; new series produced by Disney+ Original Productions, developed in Brazil, which will be launched on the platform next year.

According to the information officially reported from Disney, ‘Disney Todo Igual, o no’ is an original series produced by Disney+ Original Productions and made by the Brazilian production company Cinefilm. The new title will run for ten 30-minute episodes.

In relation to the plot of the series, Disney reported that ‘it will  follow Carol, played by Brazilian actress Gabriella Saraivah), at the moment when she goes through important changes in her life. On the one hand, she must deal with her mother marrying her new boyfriend and her logical coexistence with his son. On the other hand, she initiates her first courtship and starts living unexpected situations with her friends from her whole life, which puts her relationship in danger. This way, she faces typical teenages challenges, experiencing feelings never explored before, and learns that the first step to be happy is to know and respect her own emotions, despite the fact that many mistakes are made along the way’.

Disney also reported that the series is part of the offer of new Disney+ productions fully developed in the region, in line with The Walt Disney Company Latin America’s  commitment to produce locally relevant content for the streaming service in partnership with production companies in the region, and adding recognized talent’.

Days ago, Bob Chapek, CEO at The Walt Disney Company, announced that the company plans to shut down 100 TV channels globally this year, and plans to strengthen its D2C strategy. In addition, the company plans to launch Star+, a new streaming platform, in Latin America, on August 31st.
