As part of the Fox acquisition, Disney announced it will be rebranding its TV studios. This way, 20th Century Fox Television becomes 20th Television; Fox 21 Television Studios will now become Touchstone Television; and ABC Studios and ABC Signature will merge as ABC Signature.
As reported by the specialized website Variety, the removal of the ‘Fox’ brand is part of the requirements for the merger between 21st Century Fox and The Walt Disney Company, officially concluded in March 2019, to avoid confusion between the Disney properties and the ‘New Fox’, which also includes Fox Sports, Fox Business, Fox News and the Fox TV channel. Film studios 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight removed the word ‘Fox’ from their names earlier this year. Also, while the new studio names will come into effect quickly, full integration of the names and logos may be officially completed by the end of 2020.
On the other hand, one of the main news announced by Disney a few days ago is that it has officially confirmed the launch of Disney+, its new SVOD OTT, launched last year, in Latin America, where it will arrive in November.
