Discovery Inc. decided to postpone the date for the launch of its new streaming platform, Discovery +, in Brazil, scheduled for September 2021, according to the Brazilian portal UOL. Although the reasons are unknown, it was stated that the OTT is expected to arrive in the country before the end of the year.
In the last weeks, the brand launched a powerful advertising campaign in the region to promote the service, which will feature content from the channels: Discovery Channel, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Kids, TLC, ID, Animal Planet, Discovery Turbo, Food Network, HGTV and Discovery Science. However, the price of the subscription has not yet been announced.
The platform was first launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland, in November 2020, and arrived in the United States in January of this year. Shortly afterwards, it expanded to almost all of Europe, a region in which Discovery owns the rights to sports content. On the other hand, the outlook is more complicated for its scope in Latin America, where it has not yet been enabled for any country.
