DirecTV reported that, due to the global health crisis related to the Covid-19 pandemic (Coronavirus), it will allow free access to a greater number of channels until April 15th in Latin America. The benefit includes more than 91 channels of various genres depending on the plan of each client and the country where they offer their service, and other issues. In addition, the DTH will not charge the Football Pack to its subscribers in Argentina until the local football tournament in the country resumes.
The programming offer will also be extended to DirecTV GO. Subscribers from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay will be able to enjoy up to 35 additional live and on-demand channels for free. All customers can binge watch series and movies on any device, and also on their TVs, through Roku, Chromecast and Apple TV.
In addition, in order to continue with kids teaching and learning process during the pandemic, DirecTV will also offer the ‘Escuela Plus’ channel (channel 804) for free, until April 17th. Escuela Plus provides educational and didactic TV in rural schools, and the DTH develops it in almost 10 thousand establishments in Latin America, together with Discovery, National Geographic, Torneos, Takeoff Media and Disney.
