Deezer expands in Mexico with TV Azteca

Deezer and TV Azteca announced an agreement focused on the expansion of the music and audio platform in the country. The partnership between the two companies aims to accelerate Deezer’s growth in Mexico, as TV Azteca and Grupo Salinas companies will promote the platform through their different services.

Our experience and our second position in the Brazilian ranking will help us become the main competitor in the region’, said Hans-Holger Albrecht, CEO at Deezer. ‘Thanks to TV Azteca, we will have an unprecedented reach in Mexico, which means that we can create even more content for Mexican music fans. We are also excited to begin implementing our proven retail strategy, working closely with Grupo Elektra stores across the country’, he added.

In Mexico, it is possible to subscribe to Deezer through Totalplay. In addition, as announced by its CEO, the platform is currently working together with the Elektra Group to offer digital music to its clients. Apart from Mexico, Deezer has a growing subscriber base in Latin America, including Colombia, Argentina and Brazil. Recently, the platform launched a podcast service in Mexico, with audio programs available for its clients in the country.

As part of the agreement, the company will take over the TV program ‘Mugo Live’ (Azteca Uno), and will rename it as ‘Deezer Live’. Deezer will focus on showcasing new and growing local talent, with live performances by Mexican artists.
