The sports OTT DAZN announced this week that it will reduce its monthly subscription value by almost 50%. As detailed, it will go from R$ 37.90 (USD 9.35) to R $ 19.90 (USD 4.90). The platform, launched in Brazil this year, also announced that it will feature a new competition on its catalog, which is the 2020 Paranaense Championship, the first state competition in Brazil that arrives at the OTT, of which more than fifty matches will be broadcast.
‘We already have a large number of Brazilians on our platform and we experienced a record of downloads in just seven months of operation. We are very optimistic about the growth speed and scale that we will gain with the new monthly subscription value (R $ 19.90 – USD 4.90)’, said Bruno Rocha, DAZN’s Executive VP in Brazil. ‘We will continue to invest in quality content for our subscribers, and the arrival of a competition as important as the Paranaense Championship reinforces our intentions in the country’, the executive added.
According to the Brazilian media, the subscription reduction will be effective from Q1 2020, and will be valid for both new and current DAZN customers.
The Paranaense Championship joins other competitions already available in the OTT catalog, such as the Brazilian Championship Serie C, Leagues from Turkey and Mexico, the Premier League, and others. Recently, the Brazilian Observatório da Televisão (UOL) website reported a negotiation between DAZN and Globo to broadcast some matches from the 2020 Copa do Brasil on the platform, in exchange for giving Globo some matches from the Copa Sudamericana.
