CPC wants to double taxes in Chile for Netflix

Alfonso Swett, president of Chilean Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), propose to charge a new tax and a major tribute to OTTs, more expensive than the ones introduced by the Government. ‘Taxes must have at least a 19% rate, that means over 10% proposed by the tax modernization’, he pointed.

In his speech at the Congress, Swett expressed that digital goods and services would be classified as services importation, giving Spotify and Netflix as an example, and applying the corresponding taxes and VAT.

‘With the currently tax, we are collecting U$251. If we raise taxes to 19%, we could collect US$200 million more, which means a U$S 500 million profit”, CPC President explained.
