Claro TV increased 2,9% in the Q2 in Peru because of IPTV

In their report from Q2 2021, which includes the months of april, may and june, Claro highlighted an increase of the 2,9% in the pay TV service in Peru, partly caused by their new IPTV, which was launched recently.

According to the numbers brought by Osiptel, the new incorporación of the service added 5.070 accesses, which represent 2.9% from the total. In addition, Claro finished the quarter in Peru with 176.575 pay TV subscribers, and reached an amount of clients that they hadn’t had since two years ago. After having their peak in 2014, with 244 thousand subscribers, the results started to go down, until they recovered in the past months.

At the end of 2020, the company had already launched their new IPTV in many of their operations in Latin America. But until then, in Peru there were only available their Cable and DTH options; it wasn’t until the last part of Q2 that they decided to launch it there too. “We launched at the end of the period our IPTV platform that offers convergence between OTT content and traditional TV channels”, it was explained in the report.
