Claro offers Cinema Virtual’s movies in Brazil through its OTT, Now

Brazilian telecommunications company Claro (America Movil) has announced this last week an agreement with ‘Cinema Virtual’, a platform launched in mid-2020 by Encripta, specialized in OTT solutions and owner of the Brazilian platform Looke, so that Claro customers can access its titles through the Brazilian pay TV operator’s OTT, ‘Now’.

Cinema Virtual’s catalog is made up of films that have not been distributed in Brazil. According to the information reported on different specialized websites in that country, Cinema Virtual makes weekly premieres available, always on Thursdays. Many of the titles released on the platform are broadcasted on international festivals and produced in countries that do not usually have distribution agreements available for Brazil, such as Afghanistan, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Serbia. Each of the films remains on Cinema Virtual for 14 days, and the platform gathers an average of 15 films at the same time.

Cinema Virtual titles are available to Claro clients through Now, under the TVOD modality. To strengthen its OTT catalog, Encripta is partnered with several cinema networks, which receive income based on the rentals of titles that are available on Now, thus helping movie theaters, whose income has been altered by the limitations that took place during the pandemic period.

Access to Cinema Virtual titles is available to Claro’s TV, mobile telephony and broadband customers, who can access Now both through its web version, as well as from the app and channel 1 of its pay TV offer.
