Cine.ar Play, a platform developed by the Audiovisual Arts National Institute (INCAA) and the Satellite Solutions Argentine Company (ARSAT), increased its new users in March by more than 300%, as well as increasing the number of hours of its available content consumption due to the quarantine that is being implemented in Argentina because of the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
As officially reported by ARSAT, in March the platform recorded 72,531 new users, which means a 306% increment compared to the 17,851 that joined the OTT in February. In addition, during March more than 232 thousand contents were watched on the platform, which means an increase of 156% compared to the previous month. ‘La reina del miedo’(2018); ‘Fase 7’ (2010); ‘El Ultimo Traje’ (2018) and ‘Recreo’ (2018) were the most watched film content on Cine.ar Play during March. In addition, the platform is available in other Latin American countries since 2017, making it possible to access its contents from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, or even in the US and Spain.
Starting in March, INCAA also added new programs on its CINEAR TV channel and the Cine.ar Play platform. One of them is ‘Apto para mayores’, a program for elderly people with movies like ‘El Ultimo Traje’. ‘Memorias de Malvinas’, a collection of films that tributes Argentines who participated in the War is also available, including the movie ‘Iluminados por el fuego’’; and “Jueves Estreno”, a premiere program of Argentine films during the health emergency due to the spread of the Coronavirus, which are broadcast on Thursdays on CINEAR TV and continues on Fridays on Cine.ar Play. The program was created through the Resolution 166 (2020), which allows producers to release their projects scheduled for the second quarter of the year, and guarantees access to national cinema for Argentines.
