Free access OTT platform Cine.Ar Play, developed by Argentina’s telecommunications company Arsat and the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), has already reached 622,000 registered users, the company said in a press release. Only in August, the service registered 33,200 new users.
Cine.Ar Play offers national audiovisual contents. According to the company’s announcement, the launch of the app for iOS devices (in July), along with its arrival to Samsung’s smart TVs, where it already registered more than 50,000 downloads, drove the growth of new users.
Currently, the service offers more than 600 movies, including feature films and short films, and more than 500 hours of local series. In the last year, the number of views increased 87% from 104,737 in August 2016 to 194,428 in the same month of 2017, accumulating more than 3 million in total.
In turn, from January to August this year, Cine.Ar Play quadrupled the total of views (from 762 thousand to 3.2 million) of all Argentine content, including films, shorts films and series, which represents a historical record.
