The Chilean company Lipigas announced that it decided to expand its business and bet on a new service: it will offer its own Internet package in Colombia. After confirming its entry into the field of telecommunications, the company also revealed that it will form a new company for “the commercialization, operation and / or exploitation of all kinds of public or private telecommunications services“.
Under the name Chilco, the gas supplier arrived in Colombia in 2010 and, according to official numbers, by 2020 it was present in 94% of the country’s departments. Now, the new service entitled “Chilco Net” will seek to prioritize medium and small towns in the region, which currently have 18% Internet penetration, to connect them to the network.
“We are aware that we must adapt to a new scenario that is full of challenges and opportunities, not only for our main activity, gas, but also for the development of new businesses”, Ángel Mafucci, General Manager of Empresas Lipigas, explained. “We are exploring other industries that allow us to continue growing supported by our logistical and operational capacity and knowledge of the needs of our customers“, he added.
