The Chilean series Dignidad, which is being filmed and will be watched on Chilean FTA TV through Mega, will also be available in Germany as a Join -Discovery and ProSiebenSat.1’s German OTT- original production. Dignidad is the first international original production of the platform, and will last eight 50-minutes episodes.
Set in Chile in 1997, Dignidad focuses on the 32-year-old lawyer Leo Ramírez, who is recruited to lead a dangerous investigation against Colonia Dignidad, one of the cruelest criminal organizations in Chilean history, and arrest its leader, Paul Schäfer , fugitive from Justice for child abuses. Leo, who grew up in Colonia Dignidad shadows, will try to keep his personal history out of the case, but the return of a mysterious person from his past life will make him face the secrets and guilt with which he has struggled all his life.
Dignidad production is in charge of Chilean production company Invencine&Wood, together with the German Storyhouse and the Chilean National Television Council (CNTV). Red Arrow Studios International will be responsible for its international distribution. The series stars a Chilean-German cast and tells the story of Paul Schäffer, founder of the German immigrant enclave Colonia Dignidad, where a sexual abuses, torture and pedophilia network was discovered in the 1990s, which led to an investigation that turned this a public situation.
