Brazil Pay TV market is still falling

Anatel, Brazil market regulator, informed that the local Pay TV market reached 18.9 million subscribers. The number represents a fall of 0.22% compared to the first quarter of this year and adds a new chapter to the fall of the biggest market in the region. Particularly, satellite TV is still unable to recover.

DTH is the main technology in terms of users in the country (57.31%) and the one suffering the biggest hit of the loss of subscribers (-0.6% compared to Q1). Cable TV kept on growing (0.1% compared to Q1), reaching a market share of 41.61%; America Movil’s NET is the leader on the technology. IPTV is the better performing option (8.2% compared to Q1), but on a more limited slace (1.02%)

Anatel also says that Brazilian market is controlled by 4 holdings: America Móvil (52.6%), SKY-AT&T (28.3%), Telefonica (9.3%) and Oi (6.4%).
