Box Brazil launches OTT focused on Brazilian productions

Brazilian company Box Brazil (Grupo Box Brazil) has officially announced the launch of Box Brazil Play, its new multi-device OTT platform, available since February 4th, with a catalog of TV channels and VOD content focused on Brazilian productions. The development of the new OTT was in charge of Container, a Box Group company specialized in the development of OTT platforms for third parties.

The Box Brazil Play’s catalog,  a marketplace aimed at showcasing Brazilian audiovisual content, will include more than 1,500 VOD contents and more than 20 Brazilian TV channels, including Prime Box Brazil; Music Box Brazil; Travel Box Brazil; Fashion TV Brazil; CNN Brazil; COM Brasil, and others. ‘The main requirement is that the content is produced by creators and producers linked to the Brazilian audiovisual industry, since one of the ambitions of the initiative is that the new platform helps to promote Brazilian audiovisual production, one of the most affected by the economic slowdown that took place due to the Covid-19 pandemic’, they reported from the company.

‘By offering only VOD content produced by Brazilian companies, Box Brazil Play helps so that the country’s audiovisual industry is strengthened and significantly broadens its reach and access to audiences’, said Jose Wilson Fonseca, VP at the Box Brazil Group.

As reported by the company, the first subscription plan to access the Box Brazil Play catalog will be valued at R$ 14.90 (USD 2.7) per month, and will include SVOD content. A second plan will bring together SVOD content  and Box Brazil’s channels, for R$ 16.90 (USD 3.1) per month. A third option will also be available for R$ 19.90 (USD 3.7) per month, which also includes TV channels from the platform’s partners. In addition, subscribers will be able to access a list of movies and contents under the TVOD modality.
