Brazilian company Grupo Bandeirantes announced days ago it has renewed the agreement it had run in 2019 DAZN to broadcast the Brasileirão’s C series matches. As reported by several specialized websites in Brazil, the renewal will last until the end of the competition, and will be valid until January 31st, 2021.
Matches will be broadcast on Saturdays for certain Brazilian states, such as Amazonas, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceara, Maranhão, Paraiba, Pernambuco, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. This agreement is announced almost at the same time as the one announced by Fanatiz to distribute the Brasileirão’s A and B series globally, not including Brazil.
The first broadcast of the agreement was scheduled for this last Saturday, August 15th, between the Emperatriz (Maranhao) and Jacuipense (Bahia) teams. However, the match was canceled, because several players from the first team showed Coronavirus cases Brasileirao’s full C-series broadcast continues to be exclusive to DAZN, officially launched in Brazil last year.
‘We ran a successful agreement with Band in the first broadcast of the Brasileirao’s C series, which we developed last year. It is great to have the competition broadcast on Band for another year, especially taking into account the stage that the pandemic has imposed on us, making it impossible for fans to come to stadiums’, said Sergio Floris, DAZN’s Rights VP in Brazil, regarding the agreement.
Denis Gavazzi, Band Sports Director, has also expressed himself on the renewal: ‘We are very proud to run this agreement and to be able to offer our viewers a product that meets the consumption needs of our local audience. The Brasileirao’s C series teams are very strong, traditional and gather many passionate fans. The agreement we implemented last year was so successful, and nothing is more natural than running it again’, said the executive.
