As reported by AT&T in its Q1 2019 results report, the company recorded operating revenues valued at USD 1,067 million in Vrio, the company’s subsidiary that concentrates DirecTV’s operations in Latin America. The figure represents a 21.2% decrease in revenues compared to the first quarter of 2018, when they went up to USD 1,354 million.
During 2019 first quarter, Vrio recorded 13,584 subscribers and lost 0.1% compared to 2018’s same period, when it added 13,573. The pay TV unit recorded 32,000 net subscriber losses in the quarter, reaching 13.6 million at the end of March, including around 7.6 million Sky Mexico clients.
AT & T, the second largest pay TV operator in Latin America, recently sold its 10% stake in OTT Hulu and plans to launch its own OTT for this year’s last quarter.
