As reported by specialized websites in Argentina, the Argentine Professional Football League would be resumed next October 23rd, although the Government’s approval to resume it is still pending. The competition will be called ‘Copa Liga Profesional 2020’, and will be made up of 24 teams, divided into six groups with four teams each.
In relation to the TV rights of the competition, as reported by the Argentine newspaper ‘Clarin’ on its website, TNT (Turner) could be in charge of all matches broadcasts. The website also reported that ‘there are open-ended talks between Fox Sports and Turner’, and that ‘there will initially be two matches that will be broadcast on TV Publica’, and they would be one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
At the same time, in Argentina, Copa Libertadores matches have been taking place since September, and the Qualifiers towards the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which will start today with the match between Argentina and Ecuador, will be played at the Alberto J. Armando stadium, in Buenos Aires.
Football activity was cancelled in Argentina on March 17th, after the Government established a compulsory social distancing period due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Throughout this time, Argentine teams could only play the Copa Libertadores matches, under the orbit of Conmebol, with the consequent health protocols and Coronavirus tests.
