ANTV wants to change Colombian analogic blackout’s date

Analog blackout was scheduled for December 31st, 2019 in Colombia. However, that country’s National Television Authority (ANTV), has until March 1st  to make consultations to modify DTT transition date.

‘Ending up analog broadcasts on December 31st, 2019 means a risk to continue providing the service, reason why these Authority has started procedures for a regulatory project focused on defining a new date to finish analogic broadcasts’, ANTV reported.

Decision is related, into other items, to DTT TVs and STBs acquisition evolution and households with knowledge about analogic broadcasts ending. Document released by ANTV also indicates that during the last three years resources to adapt DTT by National Radio Television of Colombia (RTVC) suffered cuts from Finance Ministry, which affected the project to be completed. In 2018, 70% of requested resources were approved, and 60% for the current year.

ANTV expects to ask  public and private operators, institutions, public and private national and local entities and users and subscribers to define a new date and ensure a correct transition from analogue TV to TDT in Colombia.
