Chilean holding company Megamedia announced on Tuesday that it will premiere the series ‘Dignidad’ on Amazon Prime Video. Set in southern Chile, the series tells the story of a Germanic cult called ‘Colonia Dignidad’, founded by former Nazi soldier Paul Schäfer, and the challenge faced by a young lawyer when taking him to Justice. It is an eight-episode production, whose premiere is scheduled for November.
‘Dignidad’ is a project directed by Chilean Julio Jorquera. Its premiere, in addition to Prime Video for all of Latin America, will also take place on FTA TV. Inspired by the real drama experienced by many children who were recruited, indoctrinated and abused in the Chilean Villa Baviera town, the series was made by the Chilean film producer Invercine & Wood, together with Story House Pictures, from Germany, in co-production with the National Television Council (CNTV) and Mega. Its international distribution is in charge of Red Arrow Studios. ‘Dignidad’, announced earlier this year as part of an Amazon Prime Video series production plan in Argentina, Chile and Colombia, is set during the 90s, when the practices that developed in the German enclave were discovered in Chile, during Augusto Pinochet’s Government.
‘We are very proud to show stories like ‘Dignidad’, which are masterfully written and performed. At Megamedia we are making an effort to bring premium series to the screen that allow us to place audiences in front of places and characters that, although they are fictionalized, have a powerful substrate in our immediate past’, said Juan Ignacio Vicente, Director of Contents and International Business at Megamedia. ‘In addition, we are very proud of this partnership agreement with Amazon Prime Video, as it will allow us to bring this series to a wider audience’, added the executive.
Pablo Iacoviello, Head of Contents Acquisitions at Amazon Prime Video Latin America, also expressed himself on the partnership between Mega and Amazon, and pointed out that the US company ‘remains committed to providing good content to our Prime Video members throughout the region, and we are very excited to be able to bring such a fascinating series as ‘Dignidad’ to audiences in Latin America’.
