Alexa to be integrated with Sky in Brazil

Brazilian pay TV operator Sky is starting to offer the integration of its services with Alexa, the intelligent virtual assistant developed by Amazon, which was recently launched in Brazil. Commands can be made through the voice-activated smart speakers of the Echo line. Currently, Amazon devices are available in three versions in the country (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Show 5),  which already answer commands in Portuguese.

This way, Sky Brazil subscribers can ask the Amazon device what content is displayed on a particular TV channel; find out on which channel a certain series or movie is broadcast, or search for content by genre. Other functions will be available soon, such as requesting the change of channel by voice. Sky is the first operator in Brazil to offer this integration to its customers.

‘We are sure that, apart from offering our services with excellence, in the simplest and most efficient way for our customers, we must relate to them in a new way, providing new integration ways and keeping up with market trends’, said Gustavo Fonseca, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Sky Brazil.

Amazon’s Echo devices are always activated and connected to Wi-Fi, allowing access to cloud services and streaming music from mobile devices with Bluetooth.

Sky Brazil executives will attend the coming Nextv Series Brazil event, leading conference organized by Dataxis, which is taking place next December 4th at the Maksoud Plaza Hotel, in San Pablo.
