Warner Media’s SVOD OTT to be called HBO Max and launched in 2020

Warner Media has officially announced that its SVOD OTT platform will be called HBO Max and will include an original productions catalog, HBO series, Cinemax content and original Warner Bros movies. Friends, Netflix’s second most popular show, will also be part of the content. The platform will be launched next year, and its monthly subscription will cost  between USD 16 and USD 17, as reported by The Wall Street Journal days ago.

HBO Max will include f all the original HBO series seasons, and its classic and future titles. In addition, it is expected to increase the investment in original content for the channel by 50%. It was also confirmed that Friends series will be exclusive to the platform, in the US. OTT’s content offer will also include Warner Media’s own content, such as the series The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Pretty Little Liars.

Seven original series for HBO Max were also announced. The first one was Love Life, a 10 episodes of 30 minutes each comedy. WarnerMedia added that the OTT will feature new Warner Bros. dramas. Some of the already confirmed are Batwoman and Katy Keene, both produced for The CW. There is also an agreement between the company and Greg Berlanti  to produce four original young adult’s films for HBO Max, and another one with Reese Witherspoon, so that the producer Hello Sunshine develops two films for the platform, which will include 10 thousand hours of content.
