Liberty Global announced the financial results for Q217. The Lilac division, which consist of the operations in Latin America and the Caribbean, recorded revenues of USD 921 million, up 52.9% compared to previous year. The results were primarily driven by the acquisition of Cable & Wireless (which ended in May of 2016, that is, during Q216).
The company highlighted the performance of VTR, which added 34,000 RGUs in the quarter, driven by 26,000broadband subscriber adds, with over 60% of new sales taking packages containing speeds of 120 Mbps or higher.
VTR delivered 12,000 additional video RGUs during Q2, “our strongest quarterly video performance in two years, as our best-in-class HD channel offering and cutting-edge video-on-demand user interface attracted customers”, the company said in its report. Since October 2016, the company implements in its VOD the solution provided by ActiveVideo. At the end of Q217, the Chilean operator reached 1.07 million video RGUs, 1.1 million broadband RGUs and 646,200 of telephony.
Of the total revenues reported by Lilac, Cable & Wireless registered USD 582.7 million, VTR USD 231.1 million and the operation in Puerto Rico USD 108.3 million.
