VTR from Chile aims to double the additions to its triple play network in 2016

Telecommunications company VTR (Liberty Global) from Chile plans to double the number of additions to its fiber network which offers bundled triple play home services (Pay-TV, broadband and fixed telephony), stated the company President, Guillermo Ponce, to local Diario Financiero newspaper.

“We aim to make 125 thousand new homes, which means almost double the speed of network construction”, said Ponce. VTR allegedly added 70,000 subscribers during 2015. “We have done very well with the placement of our packs and that has two explanations: a very good acceptance of the improvements we have made in video, particularly the inclusion of more HD channels in the grid, and the non-linear content platform has also done very well.”

VTR revenues at the first quarter of 2016 were of USD 200 million, which represents an increase of 8% (in local currency) compared to the same period of 2015, and its EBITDA was of USD 76 million (+13%).

Liberty Global reported revenues of USD 304 million for its operations in its Latin American Lilac Group in 1Q 2016 (6%), plus an EBITDA of USD 122 million (+11%). The parent company had announced in the presentation of its annual 2015 report that it would launch integrated television and broadband system Horizon TV for customers of VTR in Chile during 2016.
