Vimeo increases its commitment to original content

US online video platform Vimeo (InterActiveCorp) announced through a press release that it will increase its bet on producing its own content through their Vimeo Originals division. The site has no advertising and works as a social network, accessible to all Latin America.

With this, Vimeo deploys a strategy that adds to a trend shared by most major online video platforms. On April 8th it will premiere the new Lonely and Horny, the first series by the CollegeHumor comedy group. Besides, the musical comedy Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to Be Special in May and the documentary Wizard Mode.

Vimeo was founded in 2004 and since 2007 was the first platform to allow the upload of videos in high definition (HD). In 2008, it launched its premium version, Vimeo Plus, for USD 60 per year, so that users could create unlimited channels and load extensive content such as feature films. Since 2011, it introduced the Pro type of account for commercial use. In 2014, Vimeo launched its first original production, the comedy High Maintenance, acquired by Pay-TV network HBO.
