Vimeo bought video services platform VHX

American Video On Demand (VOD) service Vimeo (InterActiveCorp) announced through a press release that it had acquired the digital video platform VHX, which enables artists and independent distributors to sell video content and connect directly with their audience from its own website.

VHX provides design, social network integration, search engine optimization and analysis tools. Vimeo will now offer developers the ability to launch or migrate SVOD streaming platforms in 4K through mobile devices, websites and TV apps.

Vimeo was added in April to the digital platform supply of Roku, the American VOD player only available in Mexico in Latin America. It also announced recently that as of April it has increased its commitment to the production of own contents through its Vimeo Originals division.

The platform launched in late 2012 a Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD) service through its website, where users can watch movies for a fixed cost ranging from a minimum of USD 1 for rent at USD 20 for purchase. Unlike other similar services, Vimeo allows producers to set the price and other conditions, such as availability according to the country where the viewer lives.
