Vice Media has signed a deal with Globosat to expand the youth brand’s local presence across online, mobile and linear in Brazil. The deal gives Globosat a significant minority stake in Vice Brazil. In addition, Brazilian pay TV player will distribute branded blocks of TV network Viceland across its TV channels.
This partnership will see Vice Brazil continuing to expand by significantly growing its local video production facilities and creating even more original content for young people across Brazil, a country with well over 50 million young people, said the companies in a press release.
“It is an honor for us to be associated with this talent and we want to contribute to the growth of these brands. I believe this partnership will help us deliver more to these consumers who are increasingly present in the digital media”, said Alberto Pecegueiro, CEO of Globosat.
VICE Brazil launched in 2009 and has evolved from a print magazine into a multimedia platform and production studio, with video and editorial digital channels focusing on diverse local stories across music, technology, sports, culture and more.
This partnership for multiplatform distribution comes in the midst of significant global expansion for VICE, which continues to grow through the launch of linear networks and multiplatform partnerships with leading media and mobile providers around the world.
