Twitter gets onboard eSports streaming wave

Twitter announced that it has partnered with the world’s leading esports companies, ESL and DreamHack, to live stream more than 15 eSports events and original content in 2017. Both Twitter and ESL will participate at NexTV Series Brazil 2017.

Through this agreement, Twitter will offer 1,500 hours of live programming. The social network will live stream big events such as ESL One, Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) and DreamHack circuits. In addition to all IEM and ESL One tournament content, ESL will also produce live original content for Twitter, including a weekly 30-minute show featuring highlights and behind-the-scenes footage.

The first transmission was made on March 4. All the events will be available globally at, and The live streams on Twitter will also include advertising packages with TV style ad spots combined with original highlight and recap clips that advertisers can sponsor and promote on Twitter.

Esports is growing at a rapid pace and we see this collaboration as a way to tap into the engaged audience of gamers that are already using Twitter as a primary source of content,” said Anthony Noto, COO at Twitter.

Twitter and ESL will participate at the next edition of NexTV Series Brazil, to be held on April 19 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Sao Paulo. Twitter will be part of the Executive Panel “How to attract the millennials?”, while ESL will be part of the panel “Sports: multi-screen, OTT & live streaming”.
