Telecommunications company Tigo (Millicom) will deploy TiVo’s digital video recording (DVR) set-top boxes (STB) in its Latin American operations along with the OTT provider of Spanish origin Optiva Media, reported website rapidtvnews.com.
Millicom’s CEO, Mauricio Ramos, had announced this measure in the letter to investors that accompanied the company’s financial report for the fourth quarter of 2015, but any further information was unknown so far.
Optiva will integrate TiVo’s services to Tigo Star (the Pay-TV brand with which Millicom operates in Latin America) in Colombia in the first instance, with three different STBs. It will continue to expand in the rest of its Latin American operations in the near future.
Optiva Media is a company created in 2002 that has offices in Bilbao in Spain, Lisbon in Portugal, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany, London in England, and in Latin America in Mexico City and recently opened one in Bogota, Colombia’s capital. It also develops OTT projects in Brazil and Chile.
