Televisa denies alliance with Netflix

After launching its own OTT ‘Blim’, in February 2016, Televisa announced it will join Netflix again and, according to what was reported, it ordered to vacate two of its TV studios so that, in the coming weeks, several producers will start filming some of the new productions that Netflix announced for 2019 and 2020.

Televisa Studios is preparing content not only with Netflix, but also together with other companies such as Sony, TNT, Endemol and Amazon Prime Video. New productions will be focused on science fiction, comedy and applied literature, and other contents.

Patricio Wills, Televisa Studios President, denied the information related to the connection between Netflix and the Mexican company. ‘I saw the news out there, I wish it were true. But we are not capable to rent, we have too many productions for the second term of the year and we are even renting outside’s equipment’ he said as part of the presentation of the biographical series ‘Silvia in front of you’ , according to what Todo TV News website reported. In addition, Willis remarked that ‘we are very close to the platforms, all of them, and of course Netflix is a very important one for us. We are looking at things with them and with everyone’.
