Televisa adds Facebook to World Cup multiplatform coverage

Televisa Deportes announced that it will use Facebook to complement its World Cup coverage, which also includes pay TV, free-to-air TV, websites and apps.
In a statement, the Mexican giant said that fans on Facebook can use the augmented reality masks to “wear the shirt of the Mexican National Team”, among other options. In addition, they can access a daily show, available on Facebook Live, which will have the behind-the-scenes of Russia 2018, training, interviews, the best goals and the summary of each game.
In turn, users can participate in the group “Vamos con todo a Rusia 2018” and use the official hashtags #VamosconTodo, #NadanosDetiene and #PontelaVerde, both on Facebook and Instagram.
“We recognize that this will be a digital World Cup and we want to reach our audience through the main platforms, anywhere, so in addition to having our broadcasts on FTA TV, pay TV, website and app, we will have special programming through Facebook, for our different audiences,” said Televisa Deportes’ Digital Director, Piero Ricci.
Televisa Deportes has exclusive digital rights to the 2018 World Cup in Mexico. The coverage will also include other platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Musical.ly, TelevisaDeportes.com and the TD App.
TelevisaDeportes.com and TD App will show 30 of the main matches. Additionally, on Televisa Deportes YouTube channel users will be able to watch the goals and summaries, among other content.
