Telefónica to integrate Netflix into TV platforms in Latin America

Telefónica announced that it has signed an agreement with Netflix to integrate the OTT giant into its TV and video platforms in Latin America and Europe. The implementation will vary according to the markets. Each country will communicate the commercial details as and when they are available.
The agreement includes the integration of the Netflix application into Movistar TV’s set-top boxes and the possibility of accessing the OTT service through Movistar Play streaming service, as well as the option to pay the subscription through Telefónica’s invoice. In addition, the agreement includes the addition of Netflix on some mobile data plans without using data of the packages.
The global partnership was announced through a video shared on twitter by Telefónica’s Executive Chairman, José María Álvarez-Pallete, and Netflix co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Reed Hastings. First launches in Latin America will be announced in the next few weeks.
