Telecom to implement ultra low latency for sporting events in Flow

During a corporate event, Telecom gave details on what are the main developments and advances to be implemented by the company. One of them is related to Cablevision’s Flow  platform, in which the company reported that it is working to achieve ultra low latency, in order to minimize the delay time in which an event broadcast reaches mobile devices.

Telecom clarified that they will only apply this technology for certain events, mainly sports. As reported, the development that is being worked with Flow aims to reduce the broadcast  delay to five seconds, equating it with TV broadcasts. This way, when the development is finished, Flow subscribers will have the sporting events broadcasts available on any device at the same time.

In its Q2 2019 results report, Telecom Argentina recorded 721 thousand Flow STBs, figure that almost doubles the 377 thousand reached in the same period 2018.  During Q2, Flow expanded its reach in Argentina and was also launched in Paraguay. Recently an agreement was also announced to make the platform available on ‘Fibra en tu hogar’, the FTTH offer of the Uruguayan telco Antel. The report also mentioned the launch of Flow Music Experience, which allows access to watch music gigs exclusively, and the integration of Netflix.
