Sky increases prices in Mexico

DTH operator Sky Mexico (Televisa-AT&T) increased the price of its TV packages. The company mentioned the inflation in 2017, the devaluation of the Mexican peso against the dollar and the increase in costs to provide the service as the causes to make this adjustment.
The increase of the prices became effective on January 2. The SkyHD Black, SkyHD HBO / MAX, SkyHD Fox Premium, SkyHD Platinum and SkyHD Gold packages increased prices between MX$ 50 (USD 2.5) and MX $ 150 (7.7), depending on the type of subscription and equipment hired, El Financiero reported.
Among the options in standard definition, the so-called Access package, for example, went from MX $330 (USD 17) to MX$ 370 (USD 19), an increase of 12.1% (the price includes only one TV set). The Basic package, for example, increased from MX $ 329 (USD 16.9) to MX $ 409 (USD 21), an increase of MX $ 80, that is, 24.3%. Sky is the main operator of the Mexican market. At the end of Q317 it had 7.8 million subscribers in Mexico.
