Brazilian DTH operator SKY (AT&T) has announced that it will expand its programming offering with the launch of more than 100 channels before the end of the year.
This initiative comes after SKY launched its new SKY-B1 satellite in February and its state-of-the-art transmission center in April.
According to the operator, the launches will include “a la carte” and movie rental channels, Globo’s HD and SD affiliates, and channels that will “change the way of viewing sports content”, among others.
In July, the operator added the sports channel ESPN Extra in HD (as ‘a la carte’ channel). Another new feature is what SKY calls ‘channels of experience’, that is, a mosaic that allows access to more than one channel on a single screen. ESPN is already available under this modality. Before the end of the year, SporTV and Premiere will be also added.
SKY will also launch 20 movie rental channels (10 in HD and 10 in SD) available to all customers, including prepaid clients.
In addition, throughout 2017, SKY will launch 40 HD channels of several genres, including Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science, DogTV, NatGeo Kids, HGTV, new Premiere and Vice channels, among others.
